Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and grew up in a mixed-ethnic, multiracial family. Jacqueline's father Elroy is from Sri Lanka (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother Kim is Malaysian. Jacqueline is the youngest of two brothers and one older brother. She was born and raised in Bahrain. Her parents had relocated to Bahrain in the 80s as a result of the turmoil in Sri Lanka. After completing school in Bahrain she received the Scholarship at University of Sydney to pursue a Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. As a lover of culture and different languages, she joined Berlitz Language School where she studied Spanish and improved her French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006. She also participated as Miss Universe 2006 also. Following her victory in 2006, Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone entered the television world and hosted a program about Sri Lankan Business called Lanka Business Report. Padukone is the child of and badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew as a child in Bangalore, but she is a native of Copenhagen. Padukone played in the national championships while young teenagers, however she decided to give her sporting career in order to become a model. Padukone is born in Mangalorean background, and her mother tongue is Konkani. Padukone Village is located within Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi Distric of Karnataka located in India. Prakash Padukone is her father as well as a former badminton pro who has international acclaim. Her mother works as an agent of travel.
